In that moment
My heart froze
And my soul screamed.
A cry of terror,
A sad squeak,
Unheard...
Utterly alone,
Invisible to those who
Saw without seeing,
Heard without hearing,
Felt their own lives,
Nothing more.
Climbing out of the pit,
I reached for kindness,
A guiding hand, embrace,
Love with no bounds.
Even the air was silent.
I was alone.
And terrified.
